Miss Sierra Leone and Miss Canada win the Miss World Talent Show
Johannesburg, South Africa, Sunday November 22: Miss Sierra Leone and Miss Canada both took top honours at the Miss World Talent Show at the Victory Theatre in Johannesburg today as the contestants at Miss World 2009 unleashed their hidden talents.
The 22 year-old Canadian beauty took to the stage and wowed both the judges and the audience with her impressive opera routine that brought the house down. The colourful 24 year old Miss Sierra Leone surprised the audience with her fire eating routine. Both Yanbing Ma (Canada) and Mariatu Kargbo (Sierra Leone) are now fast-tracked into the final rounds of Miss World, which take place in a two-hour extravaganza at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on Saturday, December 12.
17 out of the 112 countries performed today.
The contestants impressed the audience – many of them orphaned and vulnerable children that were bussed in by community development for the City of Johannesburg – with their incredible talents which included dancing, singing and karate. Second in the Miss World Talent Show was Miss Korea, Joo Ri Kim who danced ballet and Miss Norway, Sara Skjoldnes in third spot thanks to her delightful singing routine.
Miss Canada and Sierra Leone now join Miss Japan Eruza Sasaki, who earlier this week was named Miss World Sportswoman, in the final rounds of the Miss World competition.
The remaining 109 contestants still have a chance to be fast-tracked if they win one of the remaining three events – Miss World Beach Beauty (Wednesday, November 25 at the Valley of Pools in Durban), Miss World Fashion (Saturday, November 28 at the Turbine Hall in Johannesburg) and Miss World Beauty with a Purpose (to be announced at the Miss World finale on Saturday, December 12 at Gallagher Convention Centre).
