AiRis is the new kid on the music block. You know... the type that actually sings. Not too many Nigerian female singers have what it takes to go global. We see this one growing to become a true diva, if she works hard. Her first single, Without You, is getting a lot of web play. Chances are that you'll share a link to the track with a friend when you hear it. MyNaijaNews caught up with her online and grabbed a quick chat.
Is this a full time job, i.e., singing. Any challenges?
I'm a Project Engineer by profession, but I am slowly transitioning into music full time by the end of the year. So, YES, it's quite challenging shuffling both careers.
Describe a typical studio session?
I go into the studio, usually with an open mind not necessarily knowing the outcome of the music at the end of the session. I work with eLDee most of the time and we have studio chemistry, so once we start working on a song and we grasp the concept, writing is a breeze and it flows from there. When I go into the studio with other producers, I usually have my beats and song written up and ready to go.
Any Video?
Yes, we will beshooting a video for my single "Without You" end of the year/ early next year.
Who/What are your influences?
Sade, Seal, Fela, Madonna, U2, Bob Marley, Cold Play....I have many.
Who hooked you up with the Trybes Records people?
No one. I have known eLDee for a longtime now. We met in Unilag about eight years ago and have been friends since then.
What's the 'Without You' song about... personal experience?
It's really an expression of how one may feel when they have submitted their heart to another person without choice... in other words...the way you may feel when you find "THE ONE".
Where can your fans get/buy your single?
The single will be out on iTunes very soon. Everyone will be notified once its out. For now, they can visit
www.airismusic.com for more info or follow me on twitter:

Any shows/concerts soon?
Yes, there are tons of performances/concerts/radio shows/TV appearances/interviews and much more coming this December in Nigeria. Again, the word will be out once the dates are set.
