Until he came out of skating hibernation this season, Evgeni Plushenko had settled himself in for a long winter’s nap - three years long, in fact. But when Mother Russia needed him back for the Olympics, the defending champion dutifully rubbed his eyes, dusted off his skates and emerged from retirement with his jumping skills still intact.
“I am nervous today becau…

Whoever said, "You can't take it with you" was obviously not referring to a sense of humor ...
Here is a list of actual epitaphs from departed souls who clearly had more to say than the time to say it, or from their next of kin, who wanted to be sure they literally had the last word:
On the grave of Ezekial Aikle in East Dalhousie Cemetery, Nova Scotia:

Having conceded some time ago that the usual childhood in America is being despairingly twisted by the current popularity of moronically violent video games, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the nation’s young have not been entirely removed from what is generally considered a bedrock of normal American development: Little League Baseball.
I was recently invited by a dear friend to attend a game, in which, expectedly enough, her son was playing.
I was game to go partl…

The city of New York has discovered that using horses to help police the city is a boon of such magnitude that it has decided to double the number of equine public servants in its stable.
It seems that an officer on a horse is not only more visible and imposing. He’s even more likable.
A horse is also wonderfully inexpensive to maintain. As The New York Times reports, the dutiful subordinates require “$10 a day for hay, grain, and bedding material.”

What do people talk about when they all believe different things and nobody is sure what the other person believes?
Then you add to that the usual courtesy that most people don’t want to offend other people, especially when it comes to the topics people disagree about with the most intensity, such as politics and religion, which all but the most foolhardy consider way off limits, at least, in what is referred to as polite conversation.

There is an ugly trend that I have personally noticed in our society. For over a decade,it has been dominant. It is fast becoming a culture. Of a truth,it looks like a negligible issue but must be appropriately addressed for the sake of preserving the truth for posterity.I am not in any way surprised by the large number of people that may have been deceived or rather confused.
At this juncture,I want to ask some questions. Please help me to answer them and dont shun them.

A recent experience in a meeting I attended made me to reconsider my commitment to the things I am supposed to be doing especially in the area of God's work. Nobody can gainsay that total commitment to ones duties is an easy one.
Commitment is a sincere promise to do something. It is the willingnes to work hard and give your energy and time to a job or activity. The activity could be to yourself or to another person. Commitment requires compassion which is love in action. This passion

In the first midterm election of the year, with the U.S. Senate seat once occupied by President Barack Obama up for grabs, voters sent a moderate five-term congressman from a wealthy suburb to face off against a 33-year-old state Treasurer who used to play basketball with the president.

Runners who eschew shoes may be less likely to do serious injury to their feet, because they hold their feet differently, Daniel Lieberman of Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and colleagues found.
Writing in the journal Nature, they said runners who wear shoes tend to hit the ground with their heels first, whereas barefoot runners put the balls of the feet down f…

Watching a popular Etisalat’s ad on TV which I am sure most of you are familiar with its fanciful lures, opens a stark departure from that of an unemployed graduate’s daily reality. Am talking about the one a good looking young chap walk into a room with a loosen tie, apparently, returning back from his place of work. He flashes at you an exhausted smile and says “is great to be back home”. Bam! He crashed his ass on a nice looking couch and spread his arms in accomplished gesture “this is my cr…
